I am probably missing something obvious but I have SCANS for 241a reads superficially but this give me C?PPERS for 242d smoked herrings. I thought they were kippers. Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

I have, 241a = SKIMS, than you can have KIPPERS for 242d.

In the spirogram on page 59 of Holiday No. 71, I have come up with the word layor as the answer, but I have never heard of that word. Help appreciated.
