I'm stuck on a few in the cryptic. I've been learning to do them for the last year but sometimes I just feel so brain-dead!

22a - is it anti?
27a - ??????p?r

51a - ???o?i?
Seems like alot of ?? in there as they're pretty long words!

6d = grasshopper
16a = crossfire
22a = anti
27a = newspaper
28d = whitewashed
51a = chronic

Thanks so much Dutchy, I'd never have got them myself !
With the answers in hand it's like derrrrr, I can see how they work except I don't get 27a - four points per annum, per journal - newspaper. Would you be kind enough to explain that one to me?

I had the lettters n?w?p?p?r, and there is only one word you can make from them, NEWSPAPER which equals JOURNAL.

There may well be another explanation but that is for the experts. LOL

I'm no expert, but my reasoning for NEWSPAPER was ...4 points = North, East, West, South.. the 4 points of the compass, and a journal is a PAPER.
