Multi-zone mind-set

The better I know something the more able I am to distance myself from myself and simply let the music (or information) flow, as if I was not the generator of the music (or information) but a conduit for it.

I started doing this years ago when playing guitar live as it allowed me to be more free in my improvisations while being able to listen to the end result of my guitar playing more in its entirety.

Now that I am teaching Electrical full-time, I find that once I know the topic well enough I will sometimes fall into this multi-zone mind-set.

It's definitely rather strange when I am lecturing about Motor Control Systems or Transistor Amplifier Circuits because I don't really have to be wholly cognizant of exactly what I am saying on a word by word basis. Once I know the topic well enough, all I need do is listen the overall timbre / flow pretty much like I used to when playing guitar nightly.

Sometimes in addition to me lecturing about oh say trigonometry, and being rather much like a conduit in the process, I find I'll also be thinking about what I am going to have for lunch!
