I agree with lovejoy that he was not one of the greatest actors, although I think that he was one of the better ones.

Hmmmm.. I watched "Twilight" last night and looking at the male lead, all I could think of was Brando in 'The Wild One". He started it all.
Some people judge an actor by his/her filmography, some by the craft they possess and some the influence that they had on the future actors. Going by all these factors the great actors that come to my mind are jack nicholson, al pacino, robert deniro, sean penn, dustin hoffman. But the patron saint of all these actors is marlon brando. So i would put marlon brando right on top.
The thing that i like in Brando is that you feel as if he is thinking on screen. The next moment he can roar at you or kiss you. The unpredictability factor. Which not many good actors possess.
He is really a great actor.What role he played in God Father its more than great.He is just nonparallel.We should feel proud all time for him.
