In the 80's there was a fast food place that used what they called Jack Suace. Does anyone know which fast food place called their special sauce Jack Sauce?

We used to have Jack in the Box Drive-In restaurants, but they left Michigan (too)

Didn't they have a buttermilk sauce?

@doggydoo911,
There are several possibilities. Some are from Jack in the Box and some are from TGI Fridays. You'll need to be a bit more descriptive of what you are looking for. In the meantime, here are the possibilities and a few recipes for one of them.

Quote:
Jack Sauce
Buttermilk sauce from Jack In The Box, jokingly refered to as Jack's seminal fluid.
"You got any extra Jack Sauce?"

2. Jack Sauce
The orange sauce that they don't have anywhere else on the planet. I believe it is Thousand Island mixed with French Dressing.
May I have a Jumbo Jack with extra Jack sauce?

Then there is T.G.I. Friday's Jack Daniels Sauce. There are recipes for several versions of it.

http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/recs/529/TGI_Fridays_Jack_Daniels_Sauce42691.shtml

Ingredients:
1 teaspoon Onion Powder
1 tablespoon Tabasco Sauce
2 tablespoons Red Wine Vinegar
1/4 cup Jack Daniel's
2 cups brown sugar
1/4 cup water
4 beef bouillon cubes
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a small sauce pan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Allow to cool and use as a sauce on any grilled meat or fish -- especially salmon!

Ingredients:
Jack Daniels, about 1/2 to 3/4 cup, or to taste
1/2 cup chopped onion
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
2 cups ketchup
1/3 cup vinegar
3 tablespoons
Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
3/4 cup molasses
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 tablespoon salt
1/4 cup tomato paste
1 teaspoon Liquid Smoke
1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce, or to taste

Preparation:
Combine onion, garlic and Jack Daniels in a 3 quart saucepan. Sauté until translucent, about 10 minutes. Add all remaining ingredients, bring to boil. Simmer uncovered until reduced and thickened, about 15 to 25 minutes. Add more Jack Daniels if a stronger flavor is desired.

http://www.topsecretrecipes.com/recipedetail.asp?sessionid=&login=yes&id=100&agree=yes

1 head garlic
1 tablespoon olive oil
2/3 cup water
1 cup pineapple juice
1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 1/3 cups dark brown sugar
3 tablespoons lemon juice
3 tablespoons minced white onion
1 tablespoon Jack Daniels Whiskey
1 tablespoon crushed pineapple
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Cut 1/2 inch off top of garlic head. Cut the roots so that the garlic will sit flat. Remove the papery skin from the garlic but leave enough so that the cloves stay together. Put garlic into a small casserole dish or baking pan, drizzle olive oil over it and cover with a lid or foil. Bake in preheated 325 degrees oven for 1 hour. Remove garlic and let cool.

Combine water, pineapple juice, teriyaki and soy sauces, and brown sugar in a medium saucepan over medium/high heat. Stir occassionally until mixture boils then reduce heat until mixture is just simmering.

Squeeze the sides of the head of garlic until the pasty roasted garlic is squeezed out. Measure 2 teaspoons into the saucepan and whisk to combine. Add remaining ingredients to the pan and stir.

Let mixture simmer for 40-50 minutes until sauce has reduced by half and is thick and syrupy. Make sure it doesn't boil.

Makes 1 cup of glaze.

@Butrflynet,
If you want to make the Buttermilk Dressing/Dipping Sauce yourself, here's a recipe for it:

Ingredients:
1/2 cup Lowfat buttermilk
1 tablespoon White wine vinegar
1/2 teaspoon Sugar
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
Salt and pepper to taste
3 Green onions, thinly sliced
1 clove Garlic, minced

Directions:

Combine ingredients and chill in the refrigerator.
