A man is being held hostage in an abandoned warehouse. His captor allows the man to make one phone call, which can only consist of one sentence. The man is warned against saying anything about the location of the warehouse, and his captor holds a gun to the man's head during the conversation.
The sentence the man says is, "I would tell you what street the warehouse is on, but S sent next letter."
Within ten minutes, the police are there and arresting his captor.
What street was the warehouse on?
what the? this part "but S sent next letter" makes no sense to me. Is that written correctly?
@BrixenIvy,
wait, is that the warehouse on barton street, i think i saw that on the news
boomerang, you're on the right track

djjd, it's not based on a real situation LOL

Well, you told Boomerang she was on the right track and she gave the street a numbered name. "S sent the next letter" next after "s" is "t" and that's the 20th letter in the alphabet. Guess I'm wrong, huh?
@Tai Chi,
20th is not it...but it is a numbered street
there is a sequence that must be followed to get the right answer
looks like boomerang had the right idea but didn't carry the sequence far enough
@BrixenIvy,
When I carry that sequence out I get: tfou ofyu mfuufs so I thought I should only replace the s and I came up with TENt next letter.
I've tried several different letter substitution codes and still haven't cracked it.
@boomerang,
no letter substitution is needed
the sequence is somewhere in the sentence that the hostage spoke
6th? lol, like I know anything =]
the key is the second half of the sentence
S sent next letter
.s..s..e..n..t..(next letter)
6..7..8..9..10
next letter is e for 11
the warehouse is on 11th street
