"I mistakenly believed that I was meeting my obligations fully, including self-employment taxes,
but I did not prepare my returns in a way that caught that mistake initially,"

President Obama's pick for treasury secretary may want to take a refresher course in using the program TurboTax.

@H2O MAN,
Initially, Hell. A better word choice might have been never.

@H2O MAN,
We can add Daschle and now:

Quote:
WASHINGTON (AP) - Nancy Killefer, who failed for a year and a half to pay employment taxes on household help, has withdrawn her candidacy to be the first chief performance officer for the federal government, the White House said Tuesday.

Killefer was the second major Obama administration nominee to withdraw and the third to have tax problems complicate their nomination after President Barack Obama announced their selection.

So, raising taxes really is fine...just don't pay them!

I'm SOOOO firing my CPA!

@BigTexN,
And Daschle bites the dust!

Former Senator Tom Daschle's statement:

Quote:
“I have just informed the President that I am withdrawing my name from consideration for Secretary of Health and Human Services….If 30 years of exposure to the challenges inherent in our system has taught me anything, it has taught me that this work will require a leader who can operate with the full faith of Congress and the American people, and without distraction. Right now, I am not that leader, and will not be a distraction…”
