Help ! I need ideas for a super baby gift

Mon 29 Dec, 2008 03:12 pm
I'm invited to a baby shower for a very close relative. I want to give her something neat, that she will really find useful with a baby. Are there new products on the market? I'm really out of touch.

Oh lord have mercy, there are so many products out there! You will be amazed if you haven't looked recently!

My mom was astounded at how much **** you can buy now.
LOL

I suggest a care package; diapers, wipes, butt cream, bibs, spoons, paci, etc for baby. And then some nice soothing Mom stuff for mom....bubble bath, candle, book from a favorite author, a gift cert to a salon....anything to help her feel better after birth.

What about a gift certificate for mom so that she can have a massage?

Sometimes, the gifts that are geared JUST for mom stand out the most . Smile

@mags314772,
I mean, it's not really exciting....but it will be so handy when baby comes and she has everything she needs.
Perhaps get her a changing table organizer thingy. Or some baskets to organize the stuff. That helps too.

@Bella Dea,
This is a precious gift I got a friend...it's as good for the parent as it is for the baby - and it is something that grows with the baby.

That whole website is full of great baby ideas.

My mom did one of these for my wedding and used towels of various sizes.

I thought this was super cute, and uses disposable diapers!

@Bella Dea,
You could always make a smaller version.

@mags314772,
I did have an idea for one of those baby "slings" that you can put your little one in and have hands free. Problem is, they are designed for the mother's size and require all kinds of measurements.

@mags314772,
Some of them have rings that adjust - you just have to know Small, Medium or Large. There is a girl I know that uses them and they are amazing. She uses it all the time and she said it made her life so much easier - I would have loved to have had one.

@mismi,
I just called the mother to be's sister to ask about sizing, and I ordered a sling on ebay. Thanks for all your helpful advice, guys.

@mags314772,
Oh good. I was reading through and had a bunch of ideas and got to the sling and said yes, sling, those are awesome! and no don't worry you don't have to get a specific size! (all of these were expressed internally mind you), and then got to the last post, yay. I loved mine. One of those pre-baby presents I got that I wasn't that enthusiastic about and then became a prized possession once the baby arrived.

Another thing (just for the record) that I love is a set of mirrors so you can see your baby in the backseat while you're driving. I need it because I'm deaf, but every mom I know who's seen my mirror(s) (needed two when she was rear-facing, one once she turned around) has thought they were really cool and useful. Several bought them, just to be able to see the baby while driving, even though they could hear the baby too.

@mags314772,
There are so many good for babies, If you are close your friend than give something high like Precious Ornaments or Silverware, and you can also give baby shower basket its best gift for baby.
