MANILA, Philippines"Now showing in the Philippine night sky: A smiling face formed by the rare alignment of the planets Venus and Jupiter and directly below it, the crescent moon.

The smiling face can also be seen in Australia. However, the sky show in the United States and Europe will have Jupiter, Venus and the moon in a frown, a survey of news reports on the Web showed.

I was wondering what they were yesterday at dusk. I thought they were UFO's hovering, being very bright and apparently large.

now that is interesting...

from here, I got a waning moon, with the planets reversed from that view.

(is that a satellite photo?)

I'm almost 100% positive that the moon is reversed in the other hemisphere; wonder if that's a photo from Down Under.
