@davewonderz,
Hi Dave. I’ve never paired Sarcoid and Graves in a search before your enquiry, but within just a few minutes of looking I found the following, which suggests that concomitant sarcoidosis of the thyroid and graves hyperthroidism is not commonly reported:
Quote:Concomitant sarcoidosis of the thyroid and Graves' hyperthyroidism have rarely been reported.[5-8] In a review of the world literature in 1993, Vailati et al[8] reported 40 cases of sarcoid involvement of the thyroid gland, and 13 of the patients presented clinically with hyperthyroidism. These cases with hyperthyroidism probably represented Graves' hyperthyroidism. Thereafter, 2 additional cases of proven thyroid involvement with sarcoid and concomitant hyperthyroidism were reported[6,7] ( Table 2 ).

But nothing I glimpsed suggested that one causes the other…
I’m interested in Sarcoid because I have a family member who “probably” has it. Without a lung biopsy we can’t know for sure. It’s presently (recently) in a dormant stage, or at least the symptoms aren’t raging. In his case, looking back, it’s likely he’s had it close to 20 years. It’s episodic. Perhaps your wife has been similarly afflicted.
I’d be keen to learn more.
