Oh, thank you all SO MUCH!
Just got back from a lovely dinner at a little Italian place nearby. We sat at an outdoor table, had salad with a lemon vinaigrette, then shared a small pizza with canadian bacon, caramelized onions, fresh mushrooms and pine nuts...mmmmm. Hand-tossed pizza is the best.
At my house, we don't just have birthdays...we have
birthday weekends. It really isn't fair to have to work or go to school on one's birthday, so we declare the closest weekend to the actual date as The Birthday Weekend. For two days, everyone in the house has to do whatever the birthday person wants to do, go where he or she wants to go, and so forth.
SO...I have put my order in. Tomorrow, I want breakfast in bed. Then I want to read in bed all morning. In the afternoon, I want them to take me to a movie. "Which one?" they asked with naked fear in their eyes. I took a deep breath and said, "The Women." You can imagine the pained expressions. SonofEva looked at Hubby mournfully and pleaded, "Oh, man. I bet there isn't a single explosion in that entire movie." Hubby just shook his head. They were truly pitiful, but I was determined not to relent. I said, "I've seen enough movies with explosions lately. It's your turn to watch something I want to see." Surely, being dragged to "Forbidden Kingdom," "Spiderman 1 & 2" and "Iron Man" during the past year more than entitles me to this. (And that's not even counting all the shoot-'em-up rental movies.)
I'm making it up to them by having them take me to The Melting Pot for dinner. That is a real treat, one we can only afford once or twice a year on special occasions. We all love it. Besides, it will cheer them up.
I haven't decided on anything for Sunday yet. Any suggestions?
