As I approach 60... I have finally decided what I want to be when I grow up.
I am now ready to put up my guitars, microphones and spandex pants and become what I hope to be until my dying day.
A retired ne'er do well.
Everyone who has been asking me for the last 40 years about it can now kindly STFU.
How about you guys? Plans?
@Bi-Polar Bear,
I am so glad you are retiring the spandex pants. And the retired ne'er do weller suits you - really - you are a natural
I actually want to be a back up singer for Barry Manilow when I grow up.
@Bi-Polar Bear,
childhood dream. Would it be better to be a back up singer forrrrrrrr - say Tina Turner? That would do as well..
@mismi,
much better...Tina rocks...I'll let you do back ups on my next recording project....how about that?
@Bi-Polar Bear,
What..... we gotta grow up BEAR.....
nah!!!!
<pass over the spandex and mic a? Mis... wanna be a Three Degree.... just need to find the third.....)
A lithe male dancer on Enya DVD's. I always get flashback munchies when I listen to Enya.
@Bi-Polar Bear,
I want to be a teacher.
I used to be one back when I was an adult.
@Bi-Polar Bear,
No plans yet. Youngest daughter is a junior in HS. We've got two or three years yet tied to being here, doing what we're doing. Looking and thinking about next steps.
When I'm lyin' in my bed at night
I don't wanna grow up
Nothin' ever seems to turn out right
I don't wanna grow up
How do you move in a world of fog
That's always changing things
Makes me wish that I could be a dog
When I see the price that you pay
I don't wanna grow up
I don't ever wanna be that way
I don't wanna grow up
Seems like folks turn into things
That they'd never want
The only thing to live for
Is today...
I'm gonna put a hole in my TV set
I don't wanna grow up
Open up the medicine chest
And I don't wanna grow up
I don't wanna have to shout it out
I don't want my hair to fall out
I don't wanna be filled with doubt
I don't wanna be a good boy scout
I don't wanna have to learn to count
I don't wanna have the biggest amount
I don't wanna grow up
Well when I see my parents fight
I don't wanna grow up
They all go out and drinking all night
And I don't wanna grow up
I'd rather stay here in my room
Nothin' out there but sad and gloom
I don't wanna live in a big old Tomb
On Grand Street
When I see the 5 o'clock news
I don't wanna grow up
Comb their hair and shine their shoes
I don't wanna grow up
Stay around in my old hometown
I don't wanna put no money down
I don't wanna get me a big old loan
Work them fingers to the bone
I don't wanna float a broom
Fall in love and get married then boom
How the hell did I get here so soon
I don't wanna grow up
@Bi-Polar Bear,
How does a ne'er do well retire?
I don't want to be a back up singer. I want to be a showliner. Or benevolent dictator. Or a well funded beach bum. I'm not particular which.
Just when I thought I grew up, I entered my second childhood.

That'll work for me...can I have your spandex? No, wait- if your spandex fit me I think I'd die.
