With all the financial drama in the US markets lately, isn't this move by the government only a temporary fix? If a company is going bankrupt, doesn't this bail out only delay the inevitable?

It's not temporary by any means. When they fund hundreds of billions of dollars without any backing for it, it becomes a very long-term economic issue.
