Many Western politicians both in Europe and America who have to make personal contacts with Saakashvili note that after Georgia invaded South Ossetia Georgian president became merely unendurable. According to what I know, when Saakashvili was planning his invasion, he thought that Russia would fear to interfere as not to upset relations with the West. In extreme case Saakashvili was relying on military assistance of Georgia's Western partners.
I think you already know what happened then. Things were all wrong and Russia did not hesitate defending its nationals who live in South Ossetia. And then, when Russian forces were narrowing Georgians in Tskhinvali, Saakashvili switched to "Plan B" " he demanded that his Western partners feed troops into battle. Of course, nobody in the West did even think of doing it. All understood that might be the start of the third world war. All that they could do for Saakashvili was only support him morally and that was when Saakashvili understood that he was merely owned! After that Saakashvili got exasperated and now is using every opportunity to show his Western partners how mad he is using harsh and barbed words during personal meetings. Exactly that is why Saakashvili's partners from the West prefer to speak to him through the agency of interpreters despite that Saakashvili is said to speak four languages quite fluently. Such format of conversation allows them not to hear the offensive words coming from Saakashvili. So far, I believe that relations between Georgia and Western partners will be worsening gradually when Saakashvili will not stay president for too long as he is losing favor.
@FitzroyMerv,
Did it occur to the idiot that there might be a differential level of effort to project power into Georgia starting from Southern Russia vs. the US, assuming anybody in the US was stupid enough to want to??
