@djjd62,
Everyone lies. I don't get why people get so uptight about it being pointed out when it happens.

@Robert Gentel,
Just because the majority of politicians lie doesn't make it right. We should get uptight when presidential and VP candidates lie with impunity; there's no excuse for it, and for the general public to accept it only shows we approve of them lying. Matters can only deteriorate to its lowest denominator.

@cicerone imposter,
I'm not saying you shouldn't get uptight when people lie, I'm saying you shouldn't get uptight if someone you like (or yourself) is pointed out to be lying.

For example, on some level you know that Obama is not perfect and is capable of lying, but when someone started a thread about it you jumped on him for not focusing on McCain's lies. Why? Why should that be such a big deal? I think Obama has lied many times, and I would still vote for him.

Everyone lies, and it shouldn't be that big of a deal to point it out as that's one of the only ways to keep people honest.

@Robert Gentel,
If you've been following my posts about McCain and Obama, you would know that my criticisms about Obama were just as critical as my criticisms about McCain.

My "recent" change of heart came from observations made by nimn who has been critical of both candidates. Actually, I didn't care for either candidate as recently has one month ago. My choice would have been Kucinich or Ron Paul.

However, the reality today is that McCain and Obama are in the running for the white house. Looking at both candidates, I realize both have stretched the truth, but the "big" lies come from McCain's side of the isle, and Obama's less so. That's how I observe what's happening even now; Palin's speech was full of them, and the party leaders ate up all her lies like chocolate candy - and repeated them on the media.

Obama has even stepped up to the plate to say that Palin's children are off limits. When did the conservatives ever say anything close to that?

Their supposed moral high ground has been deep sixed long ago, but my observation may be biased to some extent.

It's still early to pick either one, but I'm leaning Obama at this point.
