@blueveinedthrobber,

I'd like to see what the 'likely voter' screen was, but it was a good week for McCain, and this is a good showing for him in this poll.

The conventions will be a good show, the debates will be very interesting.

It's good to see the useless polls keeping the race tight though. Maybe McCain will get the nudge he needs. His message seems to be back on track as late.

@blueveinedthrobber,
If you mean why did it happen..it appears the 3AM Moment and the Faith thing went either for McC or against O...or some combination of the two.

@blueveinedthrobber,
Most of the polls I've seen lately have had the numbers within the margin of error so I'm not surprised. With the upcoming convetions the numbers should move due to the normal "bounce". Right now I'm not really paying attention to the polls. Once things settle down post-convention I think they'll mean more.

@fishin,
What's even more interesting is that McCain has virtually caught up with Obama in the Electoral College polls...or at least this one. Obama with 264 EV, McCain with 261 EV.

The Saddleback forum certainly is a major contributor, but I think Obama is a victim of his own campaign ineptitude. Voters are increasingly seeing him as simply another boring, ego-centric academic with extremely liberal leanings.

He's got great rhetoric about change (when he has writers drafting his speeches for him), but doesn't have the capacity or proven history to show he can really bring it about.

As I noted in another thread, I think voters really wanted change, but Obama is proving he's not it. And so voters default into proven leadership and experience, even if it might mean another four years of the status quo.
