I recently began reading articles that stated, among other things, "Your electric bill for August will be the highest you have ever received." "The cost of natural gas has gone up over two hundred percent... " Stories calculated to strike fear into your heart about the affordability of electricity. After wading through these articles a few weeks, a notice came from my electric provider, informing me that I would be put on a plan that fluxuates with company costs, unless I locked into a two year plan, guaranteeing a fixed rate, a bit higher than the current rate. This I reluctantly did. Then, coincidentally (?), late yesterday evening, I swear, I heard a voice, from the TV in the next room, that said something about the cost of natural gas has dramatically fallen. Meaning, I suppose, that my bill would have been cheaper if I had accepted the original plan. You don't suppose - - - ?
Oh goodness. I pretty much don't watch TV anymore because it's all about elevating your anxiety. At this point, what can you do? Probably nothing, except maybe turn off the TV?
But the damning articles were from web sites and the Houston Chronicle, not TV.
Got it. It's the same thing. I left out-- I don't really read the newspapers and avoid websites too. Anything media related that has to do with the economy I keep away from--most people reporting on this stuff are simply guessing anyway.
