I decided, after several days away, to log on and see what was going on.
Well, there are several trolls spamming the board (soapbox) with messages. There was the usual gang going after another person. Now, I am not going to defend JW, or Tabby, or anyone else. Nor do I care for GoldenDragon's musings or political bent. But do we really need people deciding to pick out another person and post a "do you like this person" message? That place is getting old real quick. And can't people just be civil to one another?
I find it very discouraging if this is how we act to one another when we think it is anonymous and we can get away with it.

I agree with you Dan, all of IMDb boards, the Soapbox being the worst, are pretty bad. Trolls and flamers have invaded every boards. You can have any discussion there without being insulted. Seem that these people can't say a word without adding the 'f' word after or before every words they say. And it's been that way ever since the A&E influx of refugees. There were a few good posters that came over but it seems that have disappered now. Now what's left are the same people who where responsible for the closing of the A&E message boards.

The Sandbox should be called the 'kintergarden box'. The average age of the posters over there is 10-16 years old. The ones who have a problem with their cap lock on their keyboard, and have problem with writing whole words : im in skool, hey, some1 probley asked this question already, but i dunno, theres like 2 much post to browse so im just gonna ask, how can i changed my ID??? i know this is possible cuz i no some1 that changed their ID, well if u no, can u plz help me by replyung here, thanx!!!

I hardly post there anymore, I go to the 'I need to know' board and the 'Games' board.

So where have all the good posters gone?

LOL! That was funny! You are right. Young people can't seem to spell anymore as they are used to the computer lingo. Do you think that someday our language will evolve (or devolve) based on computer-speak?

On the age, you are also on point. There was a post from someone asking a question about the musical Chicago...actually about the movie. She asked it on the Soapbox board and got very upset when she didn't get an answer right away. just another sign of immaturity.

Too bad as the discussion used to be much better there. A lot of older posters have gone away. I wish we could get back to quality discussions. i have found that the wit and humor on the boards was much greater and I used to post and go to the boards just for the laughs. I miss the humor of organicprankster, or Swift. I know that some of the posters that used to post still do so, but the posts are far fewer and when someone does get a good post going, it is not the same becasue of the humorless or juvenile humor of the regulars. Too bad. I guess it is all part of the evolution of the internet.
When I first starting surfing the world wide web, there were few people out here. We didn't have many boards, but there were discussion boards you could dial into in ISPs if you knew the number. I liked it becasue almost everything was free. If you could get to a site, you could download just about anything.
Today that has changed. Look at newspapers for example. Many today have limited their web editions and in some you have to subscribe to get many of their features. too bad, but that is evolution, I guess. As much as we dislike it, the world moves on. Perhaps that is why we are only on earth for such a short period. We probably, or proly couldn't handle all the change. Hell, I'm still upset about the designated hitter rule!
