She makes me want to hug her like I would my own grandmother if she were alive.
I can just see her sitting on the steps of a small house watching little kids play in a pool of water... smiling.. happy.. completely content.

For some reason this one makes me angry.

http://img392.imageshack.us/img392/623/37567835yt3.jpg

I wonder where her family is.
Why she is living all alone.. in a closet.
Of course, there is that american mindset.. having little means being poor and unwanted.
For all I know she may want to live there, and her family live in a room next door.

But I cant help but see her as needing assistance, needing SOMEONE.. and I get the feeling , there is no one there.

I did not even THINK about that..

there are no sinks in these things either.
Where is their water coming from?

Are these 'poor' people? Or every day citizens?

THey are probably the poorest of the poorest in Hong kong. I've been
to Hong kong and the minute I stepped out of the airport there were
numerous Rolls Royce and other pricey cars. Hong Kong is a rich town.

Yeah, what's weird about HK is next to the Rolls is a really old-looking man riding a decrepit bike with a basket in front full of bags of frogs.

Well, it's public housing.
Dunno, looking around, these people have a roof above their head and most basic necessities they(or anyone) need for life. Most look content, the unhappiness is our projection.
at least 1/2 of the world population is worse off than this.

I've lived in a small room with leaky roof and a small loft.. but decades later I have a lifetime's level of stuff, stuff I can't just give away, since I could use the coins, and will have to become Ms. Amazonbaycraigchick. Which I keep avoiding but am gearing up for slowly. Not that I mind being divested, more that I mind the process.

Reminds me, I always used to like train compartments, the sleeper rooms in the olden days of train travel, say, 1950. But I've also loved my/our 3,400 sq. foot studio; however short lived that was, it was memorable, and not solely for meeting my husband. That was living large. Eh, I cannot complain, I've liked my living experiences.

those beds don't look very comfortable.

Couple of those people, like shewolfs grandma, or the guy w/ the microwave...they look like they have the right idea.

They're organized and clean. A place for everything, and everything in its place.

Oh hey, shewolf, I live your grandma's decorative mcdonalds bag ceiling trim.

We all could live in Zimbabwe. Or be in South Africa from Zimbabwe and reviled, but not able to go back either.

In the meantime, these places interest me. As do some 400 sq. ft. houses designed by a friend. Or some of the portable houses shown in some earlier threads on a2k. What, all housing interests me, and if I have difficulty with any housing, it is especially with the fairly recent tract housing of massive square footage, probably mostly in the US, including useless atrium space, luxurious air capture.

The air is so pure and the breezes so fine,
The zephyrs so balmy and light,
That I would not exchange my home here to range
Forever in azures so bright.
