I hate junk mail taking up space in my box. I can only imagine how the mail carrier feels. I've put a stop to receiving the weekly flyer that has all the little inserts. Does this bug you too?

It really doesn't bother me, I just throw it away.
But I do hate the junk mail disguised as bills or some kind of official document because I take the time to open them only to find out it is just someone trying to sell me something else I don't need. These companies should know that I will never do business with them.
I've learned that "account information enclosed" is not the same thing as "statement enclosed".
Congratulations! You have definitely won our $100 million dollar sweepstakes

no biggie, we just recycle the unwanted paper...
Heres how I deal with junk mail, and yes it is perfectly legal.

Re: Junk mail
The postal rates are going up another 1c for first class stamps on May 12th . It won't hurt them to do a little work considering all the money they are getting from us!

as funny as that is, does it really do anything?
Meaning.. will it stop them?

None of the companies I have done it to have sent me any more junk mail, so it seems to be working.
I don't like all the waste of paper - not sure if all is recyclable depending on the paper used.
Another thing - if you get bank statements, invest in mutual funds, and other types of monthly/quarterly reports - most companies now have an email option. Sign up so you do not waste so much paper. And one bonus, it will be a lower cost for your mutual funds (mailing and printing costs can get high for all the crap that is legally required to send to shareholders - thank you SEC and our good Senators). Those costs lower the funds' earnings giving shareholders less money.
