This past friday the lady Osso and the lady Diane and the dys went downtown to the Stetson store where they dropped my off to purchase a new summer Stetson and arranged to meet me at a diner we had never been to. I bought a nice new summer hat (pal frond-white) and went on to meet them at the diner where I sat for 1 1/2 hours sipping my coffee and telling the waiter "yes, I'm sure they will be along any minute"
Anyway the little diner is owned by a family of Greeks and the menu is mostly new mexican food plus a section of greek food (gyros and such) so we had a nice lunch and after that the lady Osso and the lady Diane had coffee with caramel and whipped cream.
T'was very pleasant. Next time I'm going to try their green chili burger. Damn, I hope they don't put mayo on it! I may have to shoot someone.

I haven't been there for many years, I assume it's still there. It's a fair drive from here. I think the last time we were there is about 5 years ago on our way to Taos. Damn good food.

If you're up in Santa Fe, see if Dave's Not Here is still there. It's my favorite NM restaurant (diner).

When i briefly lived in NM, i was outside Espanola--so Rancho de Chimayo was the nearest high-class restaurant. Most often, i ate at Restaurant del Arroyo, which is on Route 84 (i think--standard American diner: "I'll have the huevos rancheros, and a side of sopapillas." "OK, Hon, how you want them eggs?" "Over easy." "Red or Green, Sugar?") Another favorite was "Mom's," a drive-up place not far from Chimayo. I believe i already told you about that place, when i met the woman who was ridin' back to her farm in the Frijole Mountains, and was leadin' two pack horses? Once, we asked the girl in the drive-up window who "Mom" is. She gave us a blank look, and said: "She's my mom, what do you mean?"

I am so out of here. I don't have to take this sh*t. I'm going out to the garage, put on a Stetson and smoke a cig, that's how upset I am.

Dys - Like you need to be upset to do that!

Sorry Set, I get a little cranky about NM huevos rancheros. Just can't get it or MAKE it here. And I have tried!

I think I mentioned to The Dys that there is, or was a place out towards Fruitland, NM called the Dine Bei Diner. Never stopped, as Navajo cusine is usually a bit bland for my taste, but what a name. Most Navajo humor involves some kine of play on words.
