Cheap photo frames

I am thinking of getting a photo printed .. maybe about 16x24 or larger.

Where is a good place to find cheap frames?

The photo really needs no assistance from the frame, so a simple thin black one would be fine.. but.. they are proving to be rather expensive..

I would think you know about the Rite aids, kmarts, walgreens, walmarts etc, but I have found that the specialty frame shops actually have reasonable prices if the item being framed is standard size and no matting is needed. I just wait for a sale and then go there because they have a huge selection.

One thing I ran into when I framed an enlargement of one of my favorite photos was that at some point the framed photo was exposed to heat or possibly moisture, and when I went to change frames recently, I found the photo stuck to the glass. This has never happened with my framed photos before, but, from now on, if the photo is important, I'll try to rig a way to have air space between the photo and the glass. Quality framers do sell a kind of thin plastic strip that can fit between the photo and the glass. You can buy that band by the foot, as I remember. Places like Michael's don't carry it though.

Or you can mat the photo, but I often don't want a mat.

Oh, Fred Meyer has a big selection at reasonable prices too and they are always having a sale of some type. So, if you're not in a hurry you can get a good cheap frame there.

Fred Meyer?
Those stores are huge here in the west, you must not have them where you live. They have about anything. I forgot about Michaels.....that is a good one too.
