One thing, nobody has ever been able to land one of these types of contraptions and survive to tell the story. They require use of a parachute to get down to earth. I was watching a show the other day about a guy who's trying to be the first to land without a parachute (he uses a wing suit, not a powered jet pack). He's designed a landing strip that MAY allow him to survive, and is looking for $1M to build it.
