Threads Ideas--Never Posted

Sometimes an idea for a thread pops into my head. I characteristically think of several reasons why it's not a good idea, so I never post the thread. Here are some of my rejects:

Missing the Little Things: Thought of this while I was opening a can of sardines. I miss the cans with the keys. Why did I reject this idea? I think I started a thread like this a few years ago. Don't want to repeat myself.

And the Author Wrote What? I've been collecting bizaare wording and strange mistakes I encounter when I'm editing. (Diane suggested I do this so that I could compile a book. I won't have enough for a book. Shoulda starting doing this thirty years ago.) I rejected this idea because I thought there wouldn't be interaction. Other people, unless they're editors, won't have anything to contribute.

What's Hanging on Your Walls? Too goofy. And I'm not sure I'm interested in hearing about what's hanging on your walls.

Expert in What? This forum mentions getting help from experts. It occurred to me that I'm not an expert. One subject, maybe, which doesn't come up much. Wondered what experts we really have here. Had doubts about the veracity of nonexperts.

Male or Female? There are a bunch of posters here with screen names and avatars that make it impossible to tell whether they're male or female. Thought about this for a while. I usually find out if I read what these folks have to say. If I don't read what they have to say, then I don't much care.

So, do ideas pop into your head? Do you reject them? (I've been here long enough to know that some people will start a thread about whatever pops into their head.)

I'm interested in your rejects. And I'm wondering if I'm being too picky and negative about mine.

I have heaps...but I can't remember what they are.

I also have a few I am planning on....but they need some work before I can post 'em....and I get bored and go and do something else before I finish.

Good to know I have something to look forward to, bunny. I've forgotten a lot of my ideas too. But I'm waiting for the ones you remember.

We all have at least one we'd like to forget.

Still toying with the author goofs one. Two examples from my stockpile. These are direct quotes (before I edited them).

The pest control company advised us that scorpions usually travel in pairs. I didn't sleep for a week and gratefully this scorpion was a loaner.

Care should be used to ensure that the business owns the policy, not the insured person.

Maybe the scorpion was a car...

Those were good'uns, re errors needing editing. I see typos in books fairly often, but they're usually not interesting but for the fact that they made it through the book's processing.

Roberta,
I have often wondered who the "experts" are since it says at the top of the home page: "Able2Know.com » Ask an Expert"

Would it be okay with you if I started a thread and asked that question? I don't want you to think I "stole" your idea.

Oh, & edit to add this: I am not an expert in a particular subject

TTH, I have no problem with your starting a thread on expertise. Be my guest. I'll look for it.

Okay thanks, I thought I better ask you & I also look forward to the responses too.

I know this is off-topic but, I have been wanting to tell you this Roberta. It seems like ages ago and I was exploring the site. I was so wrapped up in what I was reading that I clicked on a link in a thread and then I didn't know where I was. I even posted something like......why am I here? You happened to be on that particular thread and posted something back like...."I don't know tth, why are you here". I just had to tell you that. Every time I think of that post & your response, it makes me laugh Laughing Laughing

TTH, I suspect that has been done before, not certainly a new idea. Whatever, let's say renewal.

Some people here do have expertise and give comments as they see fit.
Surely you don't expect a person to sign on as some kind of worldwide unassailable expert on whatever?

In a general sense, we do as a group try to help people, given our various backgrounds.

Really unusual sexual positions--I didnt expect anybody cept Bi- Polar bear to join in

Where was a really funny place that you were stoned- I know I lost a car because of that and had to wait three days before reporting it, but I dont remember where I was , so I figure everybody else was in the same fix.

Jever drink Listerine straight?-ever since I quit drinking , this one really creeps me out

Fossilized microscopic organisms and Foraminiferans--This seemed too focused and not of general interest

Pleasuring oneself with fresh fruit--Even Bi Bear has limits

I know ossobuco, or I figured as much. I was just wondering and since I haven't seen the question asked before, I was curious if anyone would respond and what they would post.

I post just about anything that crosses my head that I'm curious about.

There have been a few things that I've started to post but discovered that the answer was not so hard to find. Finding the answer myself makes for less interesting conversation though.

Well, soon after, I figured out all he knew to say was y'know...

But, apropos of that fillip of info, so what? Our various lives are interesting.
Even that person didn't just live in y'know land.

We're all interesting, and throw out a lot of cover.

Thanks all for the responses.

Farmerman, Fresh fruit?! Hope you're not wasting all that good food.

Did I just say that? Yes, I did. Sounds like something my mother would have said. Should I start a thread on spirits residing in the bodies of the living? Nope? Don't wanna hear the answers.
