Isn't Diwali early this year? Wasn't it in December last year?

If I am not wrong, it was in October last year. Diwali have never occurred in December. And I guess it won't be.
So yes, Diwali is here. Just two days left.

Dtox--
At my age I'm given to ill-defined recollections. Thanks for the clarification.
We could all do with a little more light--and we have the darkest months of the year ahead.

Noddy:
Diwali always occurs either in October or November, never December.
DTox:
Welcome to A2K! Are you from India?
George:
Thank you! That was heart-touching!

I went to Toronto's Little India neighbourhood with my best friend from childhood this afternoon. We went to my favourite resto for a wonderful Diwali lunch, and then went to buy her a wonderful suit. The shop was having a Diwali sale - so an extra 15% off the price, and no taxes !!! She's going to look so lovely (and really surprise her husband) when she takes him out for his 50th birthday, wearing her beautiful salwar kameez.

Wow. Did you buy something, ehBeth? And what did you eat?
I'll have to wait for a few more hours for the Diwali delicacies to arrive.
ohh what did we eat?
what didn't we eat is the more likely question
a very mild but savoury goat curry
basmati rice with wonderful spices
tandoori chicken
papadums
pakoras
raita
tamarind sauce
cucumber salad
butter chicken
naan
sag paneer
beingan bharta
tarka dal
a lovely chickpea curry that I'd like to replicate
there were a lot of sweets that we never got to as well as mango (+7 other flavours) of ice cream
we did manage to drink some wonderful chai (I like how every vendor's chai tastes different)
~~~
No clothing purchases for me on this go-round. I was very focussed on helping my friend feel better about herself - and finding her the loveliest salwar kameez for her colouring (very very white with almost apricot-coloured hair)
Setanta and I will be going out for another Diwali-fest meal on Sunday, with my friends Prabhu and Nina and their baby. I don't think Setanta knows what he's in for. Hearing about the meal and the sweets isn't the same as being there.
