Some time last week while Lola and Bernie were here visiting Lola invited over her nephew who now lives here in Albuquerque. So after he got off work as a software engineer, stopped off somewhere for dinner then showed up at our home (after Lola warned him that Bernie and I were somewhat eccentric) lets call him Jim. Jim is a serious republican and fundamental christian but Bernie and I were our usual selves bantering about such topics as gay marriage, spiro agnew, turd blossom, gun control and the invasion of iraq. Jim stayed for several hours and even joined us for BBQ dinner and then stayed another hour hardly swayed by either Bernie or meself and lively joined the discussion. I was delighted. It was an evening of active discussion with what might seem polar perspectives that remained, at all times, exceptionally civil conversation by all parties. I'd like to see that happen on a2k.

Yeah, I do know better but it's a thought.
It's happened for me in real life, too. I think we're all less apt to have intelligent debates here where we're anonymous.

Actually littlek I've never found anything about you to be anonymous.

Really?
an interesting and enjoyab;e evening.... what's that?
K, that's a compliment for sure.
Poor bear, why not come out here and join us for a few ejoyable evenings?
I have a great recipe for saute tarantula for those special guests.
face-to-face, our civilized selves hold the reigns. In A2k , where we can use the cover f anonimity, we can sever vital arteries without much effort.
Why not set an example dys. you , you, rural person.
Nah, I'm an opinionated a$$hole in real life too.

Long time, no see, no opinions!

Sounds weird. May I ask what you and your guests were smoking?

No. Well actually Bernie was drinking Pacifico beer, Lola and lady Diane had some white wine, I had either ice water or whisky, I don't remember.

Yeah, sure you did.
I'd be totally handicapped in a face to face discussion. No time to google my facts and edit my posts a hundred times to make them more civil than they started out. I can't tell you how many times I've deleted the words "could it be that you're a dick" from my posts. In real life I'd just blurt that out.
Now that I think of it, there was somewhat of a purple haze wafting across the garden.

Well, I can see you doing that with Bernie but surely not with THE DYS.
