Problem with uncle

Hi, My uncle is 67 years old. He began to loose his abilitly to walk years

ago, and gradually lost his abilitly also to move his hands. Then, it got

worse by loosing the speech, and being very difficult for him to hold a cup

near his mouth! If there is nobody to help him drink, the glass or the cup

will simply fall. Now, days ago he couldn't swallow anything, even if

someone force him to eat or drink, it will come out of his mouth.

His sons took him to every doctors, but nothing, man is ok regarding

pressure or sugar or even the heart!

The latest doctor said we have nothing to do but to feed him using tubes,

or open his stomach so we can feed him by a tube also.

This is weird, we are loosing him I know that Sad

Of course that condition is not "okay" by any means.

Could be Parkinson's. Could be Lou Gehrig's disease. Could be any of a trillion things but it is not, by definition, anything okay.

Why can't he see another doctor? One who won't just bullshit around with a few simple tests and will actually look for the problem?

I agree with Jespah. You might consider taking him to a neurologist to have a neurological work-up.

Sounds neurological to me too.

I'd get it checked out by a neurologist.

His sons tried many doctors, but I doubt that they asked for a

neurologist. I'll definately see one and update you.

Thanks everyone.

my cousin signed today, and took my uncle out of that scary medical

ward. They said something like cerebral infraction maybe, I will post his

report here. Anyway I will take him myself to a neurologist.

A "cerebral infarction" is popularly known as a "stroke". It is usually sudden, and not progressive. If anything, people who have symptoms of stroke can often show improvement over time.

Unless your uncle is having a series of strokes, I would be concerned that the symptoms are apparently exacerbating.

It doesn't sound like a stroke, but it does sound like a progressive neurological disease. ALS or a brain tumor?

Is your uncle being treated in the US?

Thanks Phoenix, thanks Miller. No, he's being treated away from US. It's

an arabic country.

I do have another problem; his sons don't agree or they like don't care

that much about him. It's only his second wife effort, I couldn't take him

to a nuerologist. I'm not sure if I could while they are there Sad
