Yes, and the huge structure that came down in flames in the Atlanta sequence was actually burned up as they filmed. It was the wall from "King Kong!"

I agree about the script -- it's kitsch of the highest order and in the end, didn't have much to say about anything. The Civil War from the South's point of view -- all I can say is that they didn't have a profound point of view. However, Lincoln and his military machine really did go beyond reason in punishing them. The funny part is that he wasn't punishing them for slavery.
