Trip&Muffy Harvard-types must be murder on lipreaders.
They all talk like their back teeth are wired together.

I'm usually ok in theaters, still, Soz. It's movies at home that kill me, sometimes. I can't really turn up the volume at home like they do in the theaters.

But, thanks for the info! I'll look into that anyway.

Oh, the Lockjaws? Fine family.

Here, practice saying this with your best Thurston Howell III style....

"It was DREADFUL! Just DREADFUL!

littlek, have you tried adjusting the sound controls on your TV so that the treble is at max and the bass turned down low?

Nah, I'm not the only one listening. I have tinkered that way with my car radio.

How about headsets you can connect to the TV?
Would that help?

Jane, maybe! But, I like the social aspect of TV watching.

I think subtitles are my best option. I wasn't looking for helps with this thread, but your tips have indeed been helpful.

As many of you know (I'm so sorry), I have a bad ear infection. My hearing is diminished in both ears already and both are now even more effected by this congestion. Dasha and I watched a movie with Dustin Hoffman in it. I can't understand much of what that man says anyway, but this night (this week) I couldn't understand anything! I realized that he has the ultimate worst speech for me to understand. His voice is deep, he mumbles AND his doesn't move his lips when he talks. It's times like these that I realize I lip read to some extent. Very frustrating.

For those of you with hearing issues, who can't you understand?

West Wing and Sopranos are tough at times....and I love both of them.....so I get DVDs and use subtitles.

Live theatre is impossible, for some reason, unless I am right at the front.
