I'M #194450!
I am enrolled in the CBS NCAA Bball Challenge. Through Thursday's games I am 12-4 and am, as noted, ranked 194450. I am, as of now, not mortally wounded by my four miscues. How are yall doing?

College basketball is something I don't have the faintest idea about.
If there's a sport I have the faintest idea about, I play fantasy.

If you wanna know, I am currently -with another nick- 3 of 12 in Hockey, 10 of 12 in NBA basketball, 65% in the Spanish soccer league, 75% in Nascar racing, 78% in PGA golf and 85% in the Mexican soccer league.

2 weeks indeed, I guess. Something like April 2nd?

In the CBS NCAA thing, I jumped all the up to 177,000 in the standings!
I don't know and many that is out of. I have 11 of the sweet 16 teams and don't have any broken brackets. But I am working on it. The best I can do is 6 of the 8 teams playing to get into the final 4.

The best Ican do is 6 out of 8 as well. My final 4 is still intact which is good. Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if tha tall changed within the next day or two.

Ha! I have three out of the four teams still alive in the NCAA b'ball tourney. Ohio State, Florida and, yes, Georgetown. I thought Kansas could do better but I was confident that UNC was not really all that good.

My ranking this afternoon in the CBS Fantasy game rose from 175,000 to 110,000. A lot of "money" on UNC.

I just read an article that seems to be made for our league, and specially for our brave commissioner, jp.

http://fantasysports.yahoo.com/analysis/news?slug=ab-beyond5x5_032907&prov=yhoo&type=lgns&league=fantasy/mlb

A quote:

"So some of you are in leagues that reward hits, singles, and batting average? Separately? Hmm... Strikeouts for hitters and walks for pitchers are reasonable anti-streaming measures. But you're also using innings pitched? Maybe it makes sense as a deterrent to owners who might otherwise just load up on relief pitchers... I'm just not comfortable with league settings that make Miguel Batista (206.1 IP, 8 L, 3 CG in 2006) quite so valuable. Still, I'm familiar with 10x10 and 12x12 leagues with the above categories. They make detainees in secret prisons play them, I hear."

Are you unhappy with the settings, FB?

I think the author over-estimates the value of Batista there. So he pitched 3 CG. That is 3 weeks where he got a point in that category. 3 out of... what 26... 27 week long season?

The author of the article fb cites describes himself as a Fantasy Baseball geek. He belongs to several or more leagues. Most of us here know squat about baseball. I say, stay the course.

Not at all, jp.
The sheer quantity of categories makes it so difficult to follow throughly (unless you're a sabermetric geek) and more random. Thus: more fun.
I think the author discovered the huge inner geek in you, though. Laughing

(BTW, I think he's right about Batista, 3CG is a lot. But who cares, really!).

Opening Day! Wahoo!! Good luck to everyone and especially to Tico who will be the Rappin Rednecks' first victim next week.

In the NCAA B-ball thing, I leapt all the way up to 41,747 in the CBS Fantasy rankings. Up from 110,000 last weekend. I had Ohio State, Florida and Georgetown from the get-go and UCLA from the beginning but projected to lose to Kansas. I have Florida over Ohio State tomorrow night. realjohnboy

Just want yall to know
Right off the git-go
That the 'Necks are just itching
(With good hitting and pitching)
To take yall - one at a time.

We may not be bright,
But keep this in sight:
We're gonna keep you twitching
And, yes, moaning and bitching.
We're gonna turn you to slime.

I've spent a very frustrating day trying to find out the rules for this thing.
Everything on Yahoo is vague and I can't understand how the scoring
works. Right now I see that the Nattering Nabobs are trailing the River
City Rockheads 4-0, but I haven't a clue why. If I haven't figured it out
by this time tomorrow, I'm dropping out. Sorry, guys, but this is
ridiculous.
