we have been watching some of the CNBC weekend programs lately . it is almost entirely devoted to news from asia and the middle-east .
the 'asian news program' provides a great insight into business in asia and the middle-east but also some outstanding 'travelogue' type programs .

one item of interest was a program on the new "iron silk route" .
a rail-link between turkey and countries in asia is almost complete and will for allow much faster shipping of goods by rail - rather than by ship through the suez-canal or around africa .
somewhat parallel a new truck route is also being developed .
it was fascinating to see the industrial propress being made by the nations of asia and the middle-east .
apparently these 'less-developed' nations have passed the industrial output of the developed nations for the first time - and their production is growing at TWICE the rate of that of the developed nations !

here is another interesting article on the new 'iron silk route' .
the rail connection would stretch initially for 14,000 km from singapore to turkey with connections into central europe and into africa .
ALL ABOARD !
