The brightest comet in Australia's skies for more than 40 years will appear from Monday, astronomers say.

I realisedater I posted that I will probably not be able to see this comet because of our bushfire smoke haze. so I really do appreciate the linked photos.

We had two sunsets when we might have been able to see the comet last week in the PNW. I missed both nights. Sad

Good luck in your viewing all you Southern Hemisphere-ites! Clear skies are sure needed though I read somewhere that it could possibly be viewed during the day. If so, it MUST be bright.

I would love to hear reports of sightings....

We (the family) finally (the bush fire smoke haze has finally cleared) got to see the comet. Whilst I cant claim it to be spectacular it was certainly amazing. Long silvery tail feathering out behind it. Beaudifull!

We tried taking digital photos but despite fooling around with iso settings were superbly unsuccesfull.
Anyone with info on nighttime photography? (Olympus digital 500)

So anyway we dragged out the old pentax SLR and got some B setting shots.
30seconds and 60 seconds. Found it quite frustrating that you cant look at them straight away. Not only that but we have to now shoot the rest of the film before we have it developed. I hope they turn out.

Certainly put the smudge that was supposed to be Halley's comment to shame.
