@hingehead,
dj, That is one very tiny fuzzy bunny. Cute, cute. And another tongue-sticker-outer. Maybe some bunnies don't like having their picture taken. Love dem sharp otters.

Hey Barry, These pics serve two of us. You and your love of service dogs. And me and my love of great dog faces. Such a punim.

HH, Wonderful shot. Love dem great apes. But you gotta have the brain power to go along with the thumbs. My cat had opposable thumbs (extra toes). He would occasionally hold onto something small with one paw, but he didn't use tools.

a batch of day in pictures photos from San Francisco Chronicle:

"Firefighters in Wichita, Kan., had given up finding Taz, a dog who got trapped in a flooded culvert, and were holding a news conference announcing that the rescue had failed when a fireman looked down and saw this. After cutting through concrete with saws, a firefighter reached for the pitbull-Lab mix, and Taz promptly bit him. He (the mutt) was pulled to safety soon after."

@edgarblythe,
HH, Love dem great apes and that picture. Thanks, kid.

osso, A plethora of riches. A dingo in Noo Yawk. Didn't know they had an Australian walkabout in Brooklyn. Wonderful that Taz was rescued. And glad the bite turned into a lick. The poor dawg was scared. I'm enamored of the kitty and the computer thingie. It appears that felines are becoming major computer users. It's the vision thing.

Edgar, Truly wonderful. A rescued and happy whale. And bedazzled humans. My heart is touched. Gonna watch the video again. Thanks muchisimo, kid.

I get a lot of emailed art announcements (that I signed up to get). Some of them don't interest me and some I like. Here's one I like, for an exhibition of Richard McLean's work at St. Mary's Museum of Art in Moraga, California.

http://www.visualartsource.com/E-Announcements/2012/0412/StMarysClg0412/RMcLean0412L.jpg

"Incident in Turlock," 1997, oil on canvas, 42 x 65".

Richard McLean, renowned photorealist painter of large format equine images, will be honored as the ninth Master Artist by the Saint Mary’s College Museum of Art.

Begun in 1990, the Museum’s Master Artist Tribute series is designed to showcase artists whose significance as teachers and influencers of art is nearly as profound as their estimable bodies of work. Past recipients have been Wayne Thiebaud, Nathan Oliveira, Manuel Neri, Ruth Bernhard, Frank Lobdell, Stephen de Staebler, Carlos Villa and Bert Monroy. Born in 1934, McLean received a B.F.A. from California College of Arts and Crafts in 1958, and an M.F.A from Mills College in 1962. He is represented by O.K. Harris Works of Art and Louis K. Meisel Gallery in New York and John Berggruen Gallery in San Francisco.

Poor Dirk. Last week three young men broke into Sea World on Queensland's Gold Coast, swam in the dolphin enclosure and kidnapped the 7-year-old fairy penguin. They then dumped Dirk into a shark-infested waterway. A marine animal, possibly a shark, chased him out of the water, but a dog chased him back in. Finally witnesses called Sea World employees, who rescued the exhausted bird. Happily he seems to be doing well despite the ordeal.

@djjd62,
osso, The picture with the white horse is a painting??!! I know the caption says that the artist is a photo realist painter, but holy moley. Also wow. Glad that little Dirk was rescued. I get very angry when I read about people like that. Lemme at 'em. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

dj, I thought I was strong and not gonna thud anymore. This batch of B&Os--get the smelling salts. Each and every pic had me swoony. (I think I'm in a weakened condition from working too much.) Thanks for the smile and the swoon.

@Roberta,
To counter that unhappy face, I'll show Elliot Erwitt's seal from the slide show above -
