@djjd62,
Barry, Harry is a fine looking canine. Great face. Thanks.

dj, Thanks for the footnote. I had figured out the P. I like a little challenge. The second bunny has a thud-worthy face. Trying not to faint.

HH, Magnificent felines. Thanks, kid.

dj, That's a bunny in the pumpkin? Thought it was a cat. Wonderful otter.

I know this thread isn't really about dogs, per se, but it's just such a beautiful story.

@Ceili,
Awww. I don't think this lil guy (at the Whipsnade Zoo in England) has a name yet.

@jespah,
olga, Divine picture. These birds may not fly in the air, but they fly under the water.

dj, Outstanding bunny wearing a flower hat. And an otter with an itch. Scratch, kid, scratch.

tsar, A spectacular photo. Love it. Thanks, kid.

Ceili, This thread is about animals, canines included. Someone posted a picture and the story a few days ago. I'm glad to see that they two dogs were taken in by someone. Thanks for letting us know.

jes, Too cute. When I wasn't noodging my mother about getting me a horse, I was noodging her about getting me a baby elephant. I'll take that one, thanks. Great picture. Thanks, mucho.

@Ceili,
Thank you for posting this - my former neighbors in LA had a blind dog too and it was such a tragedy when she died because she was left unsupervised in their pool, couldn't find the steps out, and drowned. Separately, I hope Roberta and y'all will please check this thread, esp. my very good, very old friend Danon >
http://able2know.org/topic/139617-109
> and invite him here - admittedly his thread is directly addressing greenery but he does love animals as you can see if you read the linked page. Danon is a fellow pilot (mine, not sure if anybody else's here) and an all-around great guy, but right now somewhat in the dumps because Mrs Danon is gravely ill. He's not on Facebook and all the other usual posters on his - very long-running - sequence of threads seem to have moved there. Thanks, Roberta and all Smile

@djjd62,
Love your little otter - never knew they have webbed feet. Follow-up to my previous post - poem Danon found for me, see previous link - ahem!
Quote:
The Chambered Nautilus

By Oliver Wendell Holmes
1858

THIS is the ship of pearl, which, poets feign,
Sails the unshadowed main,--
The venturous bark that flings
On the sweet summer wind its purpled wings
In gulfs enchanted, where the Siren sings,
And coral reefs lie bare,
Where the cold sea-maids rise to sun their streaming hair.

Its webs of living gauze no more unfurl;
Wrecked is the ship of pearl!
And every chambered cell,
Where its dim dreaming life was wont to dwell,
As the frail tenant shaped his growing shell,
Before thee lies revealed,--
Its irised ceiling rent, its sunless crypt unsealed!

Year after year beheld the silent toil
That spread his lustrous coil;
Still, as the spiral grew,
He left the past year's dwelling for the new,
Stole with soft step its shining archway through,
Built up its idle door,
Stretched in his last-found home, and knew the old no more.

Thanks for the heavenly message brought by thee,
Child of the wandering sea,
Cast from her lap, forlorn!
From thy dead lips a clearer note is born
Than ever Triton blew from wreathèd horn!
While on mine ear it rings,
Through the deep caves of thought I hear a voice that sings:--

Build thee more stately mansions, O my soul,
As the swift seasons roll!
Leave thy low-vaulted past!
Let each new temple, nobler than the last,
Shut thee from heaven with a dome more vast,
Till thou at length art free,
Leaving thine outgrown shell by life's unresting sea!
