I hope I never have a trinket I value so much that I will risk my life foolishly to try to retain it.

People who steal other people's possessions suck -- but what the woman did was extremely foolish -- and what her husband did is foolish also.

Actually, it is amazing how outraged and determined you can feel when robbed! I chased an expensively dressed thief down a crowded city street when he snatched our bill money at an outside restaurant one night - damn near caught him, too - and I am sure I would have got the money back, if I had to shake him upside down until he gave it up! Others looked ready to help, too. Such excitement.

Friend of mine chased a thief who stole her handbag (purse to you guys?)- in a dark, deserted part of the city late at night. First he threw the bag at her - then the purse (pocket-book?) - then the money! And she is five foot nothing, plump and asthmatic - mind you, she is mighty fierce!
