connecting DVD player to PC

Hi everybody, I have a DVD player and recorder at the same time. I want

to connect it to my pc so I can watch / record using the computer.

I managed to connect the cable from the DVD to PC, but I don't know

which programme I should use to view the movie Rolling Eyes
