That's what the customs do here, with cigarettes, watches, drugs ... and Nikes.
According to what I know, that's done everywhere the same way.
Maybe, US customs do different, although according to Homeland Security, counterfeit items are destroyed by customs officers always and regularily.
I don't really care who does it, destroying clothing that is useful seems a total waste.

That's what they do with the samples shown in custom exhibitions (watches are drilled throught) :wink:

Yeah, I believe that it comes from the corporations. It does seem like a shame, though. As long as the sneakers are functional, and the wrongdoers don't make a profit, and the (presumably inferior) product isn't identified as Nike...
I had a long talk about such "nonsense" at our custom office a couple of weeks ago when the custom officer told me she had to do the same paperwork with my two (2) cd's from USA as with 40 ton lorry from Russia ...
