How do you tell or show somebody that you love them? What do others say or do that makes you feel loved?

What good intentions meant to express love fall flat on their face?

While you're thinking about that:

Hehehe...

This reminds me of something said to me by a spanish speaking person once. He said to me, that we only have one way to say "I love you" in English, but that there were so many ways in Spanish. Now this is something I have since pondered, because in my experience Spanish is a much simpler language which has fewer words and fewer ways to say things as English does. What do you think about that?

Words are nice, but actions ... aaaaaaaaahhhhhhh ...

shaving so I won't get the scratchies
being good to dogs and the neighbours' kids
driving me to the subway in the rain when the dogs and bed are warm and dry

I get the message.

I can say more things in Spanish.

And the "I love you" thing, well... love (in English) is such a broad word, encompasses so many things. While in Spanish you have a different word for some entries of the word love.

Nothing quite says "I love you" like saying "Here, sweetheart, you take the remote."

You can keep the remote, just don't eat my HobNobs!
Mad

Early on in our relationship I once said:
I have to tell you something!
B: Whaaaat!
Me: You make me really happy!
B: pheee, I thought you were going to say you wanted to break up!

Ever since I simply say: I love you!

My wife and I have competitions

Me: I love you as much as there are stars in the sky.

SHE: I lve you as much as there are grains of sand on the beach

Me I love you as much as there are pores of skin on your body.

.....Etc, until I have to spank her for beating me yet again at the I love you game.

Return the recliner to its upright position.
Put down the book.
Take off the reading glasses.
Turn to The Lovely Bride.
"No, I'm not busy. What did you want to talk about?"

I'm sorry I don't remember the Yiddish, but my grandmother had a sign over her oven that translated as: "Food Is Love."

No, that's too impersonal. I use my bare hand.

My favorite 'I love you gesture"
is having dinner ready to eat , secretly in the house when I drop him and little Bean off at home to go to work.

He walks in to see a nice dinner ready to eat... just warm it up.....and him and Bean get Daddy Daughter time with no stress. Smile

My favorite I Love You is from my 4 year old.

She says "I love you to one hundred!" To a 4 year old 100 is the highest number she knows.

We also have a game - that we say do you love me just a little? Answer No a whole lot while spreading arms as wide as possible.

How do I say I love you?

I don't beat my wife with a stick nearly so often as I should. If that's not love, I don't know what is.

Hey we all have ways of expressing ourselves - even if it is via humor - some men (and women for that matter) have difficulty expressing their love in a more romantic way.
