The company I work for awards people plaques, letter openers, pen sets, inspirational quotes framed, and other crap like that up the wazoo.

We also give people gift cards to restaurants, amex gift cards, etc for birthdays.

I’d like to come up with a more original/useful idea for someone who has gone above and beyond…..not just another thing that will sit on someones desk or hang on the wall.

My boss is one of those people who thinks the above kochkies are the height of showing appreciation, but I say “BORRRRRRRING”! Hey, how many dust collectors does one need?

I’m trying to think of something that would be used occasionally, and when pulled out would make the recipient remember the occasion they got it.

Maybe $20-$25 as far as cost.

Any idears?

How about a Friday afternoon off? Actually, a personal, verbal thank you goes a long ways.
