Nice topic, MAy be we can all benefit by posting out easy to make recipes that work I am especially interested in what works for kids. Mine are 7 and 3. My favorite is when we start with organic chicken broth and then take turns putting ingredients int it by hand fulls and the kids simply have no excuse later.

read in the weekend newspaper that some U.S. supermarkets (safeway ?) are now adding sit-down restaurants !
seems that some customers like the idea of having hot food served at a reasonable price and not have to bother with clean-up and washing dishes .
in europe many supermarkets and butchers have had sit-dowm or stand-up food service for a long time . many of them are somewhat cafeteria style but often the food will be prepared just when you order it .
toronto has a chain of restaurants (moevenpick - originating in switzerland) where you move from food-island to food-island to pick and choose what you want - good and fresh food at reasonable prices (but not cheap !) .

Whether you're buying the weekly groceries, strolling around the neighborhood, or driving home from work, just steps away from the Hockey Hall of Fame in the BCE Building this inventive market-style restaurant offers gourmet international delights that will stop you in your tracks. Take a tray (or basket if you're planning to take out) and load up with freshly squeezed juices, prepared salads, homemade soups, Swiss or Italian sandwiches, Indonesian specialties, and entrees like meatballs paprika or salmon steaks on a bed of curry rice. Come back for a European pastry and espresso and finish it off with a scoop or two of Movenpick's signature ice creams. Some signature Richtree restaurant items include rosti, a traditional Swiss style potato and butter dish, muffins, smoked salmon and Viennese apple Strudel. Enjoy it all on one of three outdoor patios or in the cozy indoor eating area and you'll be hooked. Grocery shopping will never be the same again.

you can also get some fine swiss wine - EXPENSIVE - best bring some GOLD if you want swiss wine !
