Pity it's not Barton, here in the North West of England...

It was full of American service men during WWII, and for a long time after. My Mum had a ball!

Apparently, she always had plenty of Nylons and Gum...

...and I don't look like the rest of my siblings :wink:

It really does - when younger soldiers complain, I find that no matter what the present circumstance, it seems to square their shoulders and clear their eyes a little when I mention "It could be worse - you could be getting shot at".
