BERLIN (Reuters) - A German dairy truck driver fell asleep at the wheel and crashed, rupturing his vehicle's tank and causing a river of cream, police said Wednesday.

The 22,000 litres of spilled cream forced the closure of the highway near the northwestern city of Oldenburg while it was cleaned up, but the crash was in the middle of the night and there was little traffic disruption.

The accident, in which the truck swerved and slammed into the safety barrier, caused more than 60,000 euros ($74,980) of damage. The 31-year-old driver was treated for minor injuries.
