I got a pricing on a product (toilet tissue rolls) that I want to import for which I have clients. The seller who I found through alibaba is giving an FOB price.

I researched FOB means: free on board, that means the seller cover all the risk and cost before the goods come on the ship ,and the buyer afford the seafreight and the risk and other cost after the container is loaded on the ship.

This is a 40 ft container coming to Bay Area (San Francisco or Oakland). Who do I contact to get pricing on shipping, customs, and to have it deliver to my warehouse. Does anyone know what it would cost? What is the best way to do import on a product for the first time, I am just new to all this.

How should I do the payment? I am just nervous about all this importing?

Thanks and any help/recommendation appreciated.

Top Fortune international Logistics -American President Line
Dear Friend,

For FOB term, simply that means that shipper is responsible for every cost locally in China, once it is on sailing, the consignee will pay the ocean freight fee and destination clearance etc...

We are a shipping company and do this business a lot,we are APL short for American President Line agent in China, and we have offices in every main port of China,if you do need our help to arrange the shipment for you,you could write me email to shipping at tplocean dot com

Or you could add my messanger Id TPLdavis at hotmail dot com

Faithfully.

Importing from China, seeking help.
Hi, I just found this site and it seems to be pretty informative.
I am trying to make purchases from four suppliers in Shenzhen, China.
What I've found to be interesting is as follows:
1) All four of them want me to pay by Western Union (payments are under $1000 each).
2) The payment made out to an individual's name instead of the company's name.
3) None would supply customer referrals instead some supplied tracking
numbers from EMS to USA.
4) They will only accept L/C if amount above $5000 except for one T/T
above $2000.
Are these normal business practices when dealing with chinese suppliers?
Thank you. Your answers will be greatly appreciated.
Sergio.
