Things are far from perfect. Many of the simpler things that other countries have major issues with don't exist on any large scale here (i.e. clean drinking water, sewer systems, access to electricity, etc..) but many of the other social problems are still here. We don't have large scale famine but we still have a small percentage of the population that are hungry for example.

IMO, the biggest weakness we have is that we are spolied.

America's weakness is that we have so many things and so much material wealth but it has all been purchased by borrowing and going into debt. We're kept afloat by foreign investors and central banks right now, mainly because they want us to keep buying their products and still see the dollar as the best reserve currency around.

Just wait until oil gets even more expensive (most of us drive cars and live outside the cities), the Euro gets more attractive as a reserve, and investors begin pulling out of our economy in search of greener pastures.

That's our major weakness, and it is going to kill us in the next decade or so if we don't do something about it immediately.

Oh and America's biggest weakness is a helpless (or perceived helpless) country. We take care of everyone but our own.

That is what I think our biggest weakness is. America is great, I'd not want to live anywhere else, but we gotta start taking care of our own and not just everyone else.

We want to be liked, and liked by everyone at the same time. It's a vulnarability.

Hi Raymond, America is not perfect, but at least we get to complain about it - and we often do so and very loudly.

I think the weakest part of America is that we think the good times will never end. We think we will always have what we have now - lot's of food, fuel, clothing, big houses, new cars, electronics, cheap toys etc. We worry more about our entertainment than our politics. Our government spends it's time arguing about who can get married and who can't instead of focusing on important issues like global warming. We start wars in countries that are no threat to us, but ignore bigger problems at home like people dying from lack of affordable health care.

Dys is obviously being flip by saying "velveeta", but in a way he is correct. Velveeta is a cheap, artificial cheese food that Americans eat too much of. Americans will often accept the fake stuff (problems) in order to avoid the real stuff.
