An "Easter Egg" is a small, undocumented procedure in a program that normally expresses interesting commentaries or gives credit to the people who labored over the program. Like their namesake, Easter Eggs normally take a while to find and can be quite elusive.

Try this out:

1) Open Microsoft Word.

2) Type this: =rand (200,99)

3) Press enter and wait 3 seconds.

This easter egg is a feature in Microsoft Word and is documented on the Microsoft Website =) just ta let ya know

You can find more at eeggs.com (not a typo)

"The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog"
is not a verid thing that is shown by MSWord it wasnt invented by MS programmers
it has been created for testing first data-transmitting equipment as i renember ground-satelitte-ground transmissions in inmarsat technology
american testers created is as a jocke but it was easy to renember and whats more important it consists of ALL (english grammar) LETTERS of alphabet
so if you recived this sentence right it means transmission is ok.
just to let you know...

It's older than that; it's a sentence that beginner typists used to learn, at least back to the mid-1970s and most likely a lot earlier than that.

It is also sometimes used for handwriting analysis, since it uses every letter in the alphabet.
Which has nothing at all to do with Easter Eggs.
