Now there are several "sub-institutes" who, separate from Discovery, are working up a lather to try to provide funding for actual scientists and grad students in the sciences to do theses and dissertations of "the search for order and/or patterns of origins".

Wouldn't the Divine Proportion fall into this category? Even still, one pattern does not a diety make.
Forgive my lack of knowledge, but I do find these things facinating and am eager to know more.

If we assume ID’ers believe that the Christian god is the intelligent designer, then god must be responsible for all the bad things too.

Thus original sin is contradictory to ID because original sin’s cause is Adam and Eve's eating from the tree of knowledge, and not from ID.

Although even that is lame because Adam and Eve did not have free will because god knew they would partake of the tree of knowledge.

The whole thing is so fooking stupid!

There's a thread over in the Science and Math section started by Wandeljw. Its entitled Intelligent Design, Science or Religion. Wandel has been posting lots of clips on the news about this topic from a number of states (and some other countries whove begun proposing ID curriculum). In an few, hes had a link or two about the "sub institutes' and their proposed "research" into the search for order and therefore providing them with some arguing points that "Order in the universe presumes an intelligent designer". Their insistance on being considered a legitamate science is predicated on a statement that they dont "really care" who the designer is. Believe that and you can make the easy leap to ID.

Some ID’ers dubiously lay claim that Aliens and/or Man may be Intelligent Designers. I’ve had fun with that one, many grins!

The acronym is telling all:

ID: Insidious Dementia
ID: Inept Design
ID: Impossible Delusion
ID: Insipid Deception

Any more?

(To think that ID used to mean a magazine for Interior Design).
