And speaking of cheap entertainment.... does anyone know if Panzade is still playing music?
Panzade has abandoned music to become the beloved mascot of a professional hockey team. The younger fans really like him.

Didn't say it wouldn't work. I once saw a guy playing on some kind of string "instrument". It had like a 2 X 4 hinged to wash tub, with strings from the top end of the board connected to the tub. The crowd loved it. I was awestruck.
It was plucked, not stroked.
trade name Bush bass. ask paul hogan to play it for you.
commonly constructed using a plywood tea chest a broom handle and string of various thickness depending on what can be found lying around.
often accomanied bu a largerphone. http://www.apex.net.au/~keiths/Lagerphones/design.htm
That's the very idea. As I say, the one I saw was based on an inverted, glavanized wash tub, but definately the same instrument. Tea chest probably sounds better. The wash tub was big on enthusiasm, if nothing else.
