Get a breath of fresh air in there, someone with integrity and enthusiasm. Obama has that, in spades.
...
What I know for sure is that when I think of all of the possible Democratic nominees, my reaction ranges from "could be OK" to "OH LORD PLEASE NO!!!", with one exception. Obama is the only one who makes me think, "Oh man, that would be SO great!!"

What do you think?

I think we've come a long way since March 2006.

Man were you on the money or what??

Why doesn't ros have a look for himself instead of asking us stupid questions of that nature?

Love this one from the article: David Brooks said, "...just called Governor Palin “a cancer on the Republican Party.”"

Obama Proposes Small Business Rescue Plan
Barack Obama today proposed a plan of tax cuts and loans for small businesses hurt by the current credit crisis, a temporary program he said is needed to help Main Street and complement what has already been done for Wall Street.

In The Trail, a daily diary of campaign 2008 on washingtonpost.com, Robert Barnes writes that the Democratic presidential nominee told a courthouse crowd that the program would be a way of "extending our hand to the shops and restaurants, the start-ups and small firms that create jobs and make our economy grow. Main Street needs relief and you need it now."

Obama said the $5 billion Small Business Rescue Plan would be similar to one implemented after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and would be run through the Small Business Administration.

Re: spendius (Post 3432859)
Sure not that those at the top got it coming. Helping out the small businesses stay afloat means keepping jobs that otherwise would be lost due to the catastrophe creasted by deregulating supply siders whose tinkle down philosophy never was more than a hostile takeover. Obama's idea sure beats McCain's ultra greedy idea to nationalize housing to the tune of 300 billion and would enrich the bankers who got us into this mess by buying houses high and selling them low. There's a flim flam man for you.

Strong words from Nate Silver:

Quote:
Remember, any world in which McCain has a chance to win on Election Day is a world that looks very different from this one -- some significant event will have to have occurred to fundamentally change the momentum of the race.

(Also very similar to something I posted at the blog, several hours before he did):

Overall though, things are looking pretty good, and I think an event outside of the two campaigns’ current strategies is necessary to really change the trajectory.

Did you hear about the latest one from McCain? He told the crowd that Obama is a good man. Really. A woman said Obama is an Arab. 100% ignorance still runs wild in the conservative party.

McCain/Palin was so successful in their message, conservatives still think Obama associates with a domestic terrorist.

Palin's Rapturites booed McCain. That's the constituency she brought to the ticket.

Anti-Obama Fury Spills Over Into Down-Ticket Contests: "Bomb Obama"
By Greg Sargent - October 10, 2008, 12:22PM
The fury and loathing of Obama being whipped up largely by McCain-Palin-GOP rhetoric about the Illinois Senator is now spilling into down-ticket races, specifically the battle between GOP incumbent Saxby Chambliss and his Dem challenger:

Thursday's debate took place in front of a highly partisan crowd in the GOP stronghold of Middle Georgia.
Chambliss supporters waved "Saxby" signs and offered up a sustained "boos" when Martin mentioned Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

"Bomb Obama," one woman hollered.

This isn't a McCain rally, to be sure. But McCain could definitely have an impact on the overall climate if he called on the McCainiacs to calm down a notch or two and made a public gesture of some kind in order to let it be known that some behavior is simply unacceptable.

Asking the McCain campaign to stop insinuating that Obama is a terrorist is probably a bit much to expect. But as the leader of the Republican Party right now, he could let it be known that there is a line somewhere that shouldn't be crossed. Of course, that would require him to show leadership. http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/10/bomb_obama.php
