Camera doesn't register on computer

My newe Cybershot DSC W7 isn't listed under Scanners & Cameras on the Control Panel, or anywhere else, for that matter.

a) Is this important?

b) How can I list it?

Open the Control Panel. Open the "Scanners and Cameras" page. In the sidebar on the left, the first selection is "Imaging Tasks." The selection there is "Add an imaging device." You will be able to take it from there.
