I just use what I gots! I happen to have paintshop pro 7, so that's what I use.

I like the idea of making photos look like abstract paintings. I guess I'm still trying to understand the concept of abstract photography. I see faces in the first two photos. #1 looks wood-nymph-ish and #2 looks demonic - skeletal.

Paintshop, is that an Adobe program?

You have inspired me to give this a good try.

When you take a picture that you intend to be abstract, what features come first in your mind? I'm guessing perhaps pattern, color, shape?

Do close-ups make better abstracts than a "normal" everyday kind of pic?

I don't know, Reyn, PSP is a JASC program.

Color, light vs dark, shapes, yep. Sometimes close-ups work better, but not always. I'm not really a good person to ask - boomer and Osso know more than I.

Hmm, the phrase "using one's own words against one's self" seems to come in mind here. Laughing

It seems I mostly take photos of my sister's kids. I dunno if I can or want to post any here.

But, I do have this crocus from my back yard. Photo shot yesterday morning.....

Thanks, Soz! I wonder how those crocus' are doing post-snow.... I'll check on them tomorrow. I have to move from this apt in may, so I want to document the early growing season for posterity.

I love the lake shot.

I wish I had it on my bedroom ceiling.

It makes me want to listen to crickets and go to sleep.

That is the exact image I saw as I paddled my canoe that cold morning so many years ago. The body lay beneath me, wrapped in plastic and weighted with bricks. I almost tipped the canoe as I worked the body over the side and watched the plastic slip through the surface and descend to the icy depths.

My post was supposed to come after gus's, not your's littlek.

I do like the photo very much but gus kind of ruined it for me.

Sorry, boomer, but we all have memories. Surely you can not expect me to sacrifice mine so as to not upset your delicate sensibilities.
